Born Pretty Store Christmas Nail Art

The decals, brushes & studs were sent to me to review.

Todays post is ideas for 4 Christmas manicures.

Born Pretty Store Christmas Nail Art
For the first manicure I used these decals in GID-046 they cost $0.99 and come in a few different designs.

Born Pretty Store Christmas Nail Art
I started by painting my nails gold and after applying the decals finished with top coat. If you haven't used decals before my previous Born Pretty Store post explains how.

Born Pretty Store Christmas Nail Art
It was quite hard to get a photo of these but they are a frosty white colour, you can get them here for $2.10. You get a variety of sizes but I did find after 2 days the colour started coming off of the studs.

For this manicure I used a silver glitter polish and applied the studs with nail glue and then finished with top coat.

Born Pretty Store Christmas Nail Art
I used these brushes for the next 2 manicures. They cost $3.44

I decided to make this manicure really fun by doing a penguin on my thumb and then from left to right an elf, Santa, a snowman and Rudolph. They are all really easy to do especially if you are using nail art brushes.

For the last manicure I painted my nails red apart from my ring finger. I then painted my ring finger silver and painted Rudolph on.

Born Pretty Store Floral French Manicure Nail Decals

These decals were sent to me for review.

For this manicure I used these decals in B-061 from Born Pretty Store
Born Pretty Store Floral French Manicure Nail Decals
They are really easy to use and only cost $1.59

Born Pretty Store Floral French Manicure Nail Decals
When I first applied them I was worried they may peel off around the tips of my nails but I didn't have any problems with them peeling at all.
Born Pretty Store Floral French Manicure Nail Decals
I started by painting my nails with 2 coats of a bright pink Clinique polish and allowed it to dry completely. Once it was dry I chose the decals to fit my nails and cut around each one.

To apply the decals I peeled the film off of them and one at a time I placed them into water for about 15 seconds, they will then slide off the backing paper really easily and then you can place them on your nail and move them around until they are in the perfect position. After I had done all of my nails I finished with a coat of Seche Vite top coat to seal the decals on the nails to stop them from peeling.

Quiz Dress Your Nails Blogger Competition

Earlier this month I was contacted by a lady called Louise asking if I wanted to take part in a competition for Quiz. All I had to do was create a manicure based on one of the dresses from their collection. After looking through all of the dresses on their website I decided to use this dress

Quiz Dress Your Nails Blogger Competition
The dress I chose for my manicure

For this manicure I used quite a few different polishes,
For the gradient I used Mavala The ELLE Grey, Glittering Elements in Doppleganger, Seche in Nouveau, a black NYC polish and another grey that no longer has the label on the bottle.

For the roses I used a white Konad stamping polish and a stamping plate that had roses.

For the lines I painted striping tape with three coats of OPI My Vampire Is Buff and let it dry, once it was completely dry I carefully peeled it off of the tape and then placed on the nails. I then sealed everything with a thick coat of Seche Vite top coat.

Finally for the bow I used a cream nail art bow and glued it on using nail glue.

Easy Last Minute Halloween Nails

Today's post is two very easy Halloween manicures.

For the first one I used Models Own Hyper Gel in White light & Red Lustre
Bloody Fingerprint Halloween Nail Art
I started by painting my nails with two coats of white and let it dry. For the fingerprints I put a drop of the red on a piece of paper and put my finger in it and pressed my finger on the paper to take of the excess polish and then carefully pressed it on my nails.
For the dripping blood I used a medium dotting tool dipped in red polish and just randomly put it on and then joined all the dots together.
I then finished with a coat of Seche Vite top coat.

Halloween Pumpkin Nail Art

For this manicure I used Sinful Colors in Cloud 9 and the Pumpkin decals from here.
I started by applying 3 coats of the polish and let it dry and then applied the water decal and finished with a coat of Seche Vite top coat

The Big Food Show Exeter

We were lucky enough to get press passes for The Big Food Show at Westpoint Arena in Exeter today.
We decided to get there for when the doors opened at 9.30am, when we got there it was still quite quiet which made looking around easy but it did get busier as the day went on.

The Big Food Show Exeter
After collecting our passes we went into the arena and immediately got talking with a lady from Simply Naturals, she gave us a sample of each of the three mineral drinks. She had rose, ginger & green tea, our favourite was the rose one. She told us all about the benefits of minerals and was very informative.

We then came across a stall selling lots of different flapjacks, they even had savoury ones like pizza jack :)

At The Cherry Tree stand Angela sampled some of the chutneys and loved them. I don't really like chutney so I was more interested in the jam and ended up buying the starwberry extra jam with champagne which was £3.50
The Big Food Show Exeter
There were quite a few stalls selling fudge and this was the first one we came across. Although we didn't buy anything the fudge was lovely, they even had a marmite fudge!!

Next was Dimkins, they had lots of different flavour macaroons including bubblegum. I bought a champagne flavoured one which was 95p

The Big Food Show Exeter
Next was the AMAZING Get Cupcaked, they were both really friendly and had really good prices. Angela and I both bought a small gingerbread man that was only £1.50, even though they are the small ones they are still giant compared to normal gingerbread men. I also bought an Oreo brownie for £2 as I bought the gingerbread man for my sister.

Then we went to cottage confectionery who were really friendly. After trying a few different flavours I bought 3 100g bags for £5.

We tried quite a few different flavours at Sugar and Crumbs and I ended up buying strawberry milkshake and tropical fruits. I'll definitely be buying more flavours once I have used these two.
The Big Food Show Exeter
The first demonstration we watched was with a chef from Deer Park & Glen Cosby. They were demonstrating how to cook venison, parsnip purée and a few other things.

After lunch we decided to watch John Torode from Masterchef, he was talking about cooking steaks and also made a Spanish meatballs with clams, chorizo and squid. After he did a quick Q&A and then was signing copies of his book.
The Big Food Show Exeter
Tea People was our favourite stand, they give 50% of their profits to educational development work in tea growing regions. They were really nice people and told us about their tea. We tried the Desi Masala Chai and Vanilla Rooibos teas.
I bought the Vanilla Rooibos, Desi Masala Chai & Ceylon Green loose tea taster packs, they were £2 each or 3 for £5 and apparently have enough in each pack for 5 cups.
Angela bought the Desi Masala Chai loose tea taster pack and a tea infuser. We were also given a leaflet with a discount code for our first onlide order with them.
The Big Food Show Exeter
Here are some of the things I bought :)

We both had a really good time and would definitely consider going again.
Tickets cost £14 if you buy them online and the show is still on tomorrow and Sunday.

Sparkly Nails Spooky Spider Water Decals

These decals were sent to me for review.

This is my first Halloween manicure this year and I have used the Sparkly Nails water decals.

Sparkly Nails Spooky Spider Water Decals
For this manicure I used  Glittering Elements in Doppleganger, Models Own Fluro Orange and a NYC black polish.
Once the polish was completely dry I cut around the decals I wanted and put each one in water for about 15 seconds and then removed it from the backing paper with tweezers and placed on the nail and smoothed it down, I then wiped off any water and sealed with a coat of Seche Vite top coat.

Sparkly Nails Spooky Spider Water Decals
These are the decals I used. They are the Spooky Spider Water Decals
They only cost £1.65 and are a really easy way of adding nail art to your nails.
Sparkly Nails also have quite a few more Halloween decals here

Sparkly Nails Spooky Spider Water Decals
You can't really see very well in this photo but you get some white spider webs and some white trick or treat decals.

I really loved using these and will definitely be buying some of the Christmas decals they have to use at Christmas.

BOHEM Nails Review

These nails were sent to me for review.

I was recently asked by BOHEM if I would like to try a pair of their nails, so I immediately said yes.
When they arrived they had actually sent me two pairs :)

They have given me a discount code for my readers which is neonsparkly and it will give you 25%  off the nails, it excludes the jewellery and accessories and is valid until 20th November.

When you order a set of nails you also receive a set of 12 super strong adhesive tabs, a polishing cloth and a nail buffer. You can now also buy them from Amazon.

BOHEM Nails Review
I love the packaging it is great for keeping the nails safe when you are not using them.

BOHEM Nails Review
The first set are custom Neon Sparkly Nails, that they made for me. These ones are my favourite out of the two pairs. The closest I can find on the website are these. These cost £29 for one or £55 for a pair.

BOHEM Nails Review
For this manicure I used Models Own Polish For Tans in Sun Hat, Shades & Flip Flop.

BOHEM Nails Review
The second set are Twister form the Gothic range. These cost £19 for one or £35 for a pair.

BOHEM Nails Review
For this manicure I used Models Own Hyper Gel in pink veneer with a coat of OPI Princesses Rule over the top.

They are really easy to apply, I will leave instructions below. The first set stayed on really well, the second set did get loose and fall off after about 4 hours but that may have been because I did't prepare my nails properly the second time.

The nails come in different sizes but they are all quite long, but I was told they are designing some shorter ones soon.
All of the nails are solid 925 sterling silver.

Although they are expensive they should last a really long time if you look after them and I have had loads of compliments.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Clean the back of your BOHEM nail with warm soapy water, to remove any grease or adhesive residue.

    1. Using tweezers, apply the BOHEM adhesive tab to the BOHEM nail and let it set for a few minutes. In the meantime continue with step 3.
    2. Remove any nail varnish from the nail to which you are applying your BOHEM nail and gently push your cuticles back.
    3. Buff your nail with a smooth buffer until the nail looks matt. Do not over buff, you are aiming to lightly scuff the surface of the nail to ensure the tab adheres strongly.
    4. Remove any dust created by the buffing from your nail with nail polish remover.
    5. Using tweezers, remove the secondary film from the BOHEM tab.
    6. Place the BOHEM nail on your natural nail, aligning the cuticle end first and, once you are happy with the position, press on your finger for 3 minutes, to ensure the adhesive has set.
    7. Do not pull your BOHEM nail, or get your nail wet for 30 minutes to make sure the BOHEM nail is completely secure.
    8. Your nails should now stay on for at least 24 hours.

    How to remove

Simply hold the nail jewellery on the edges and twist gently from side to side; this will release the glue tab slowly, without damaging your natural nails. Alternatively, press on the BOHEM nail and slide it gently forward off your own nail. Once removed, clean the BOHEM nail and remove any residue from the adhesive tab with warm soapy water.
Do not use acetone on your metal nail jewellery as this will damage the enamel.

    Tomato & Apple Chutney Recipe

A couple of weeks ago Angela came over and we made chutney. For the last few years I have made chutney to give to family as Christmas gifts and this was everyone's favourite.
This recipe makes about 12 jars.

    Tomato & Apple Chutney Recipe
    The Ingredients
    500g chopped onions
    3kg Tomatoes
800g Cooking Apples, chopped into small pieces
    200-250g sultanas
    650ml vinegar
    900g granulated sugar
    1 1/2 teaspoons Mixed Spice
    1 1/2 teaspoons of Pepper
    Tomato & Apple Chutney Recipe
The first thing we did once we had all of the ingredients ready was to sterilise the jars.
It is really easy to sterilise your jars all you need to do is wash them and then heat the oven to 130C and then place your jars and lids on baking trays and put them in the oven for at least 20 minutes.
    Tomato & Apple Chutney Recipe
Once you have got the jars ready to sterilise place all of the ingredients into a large pan (this pan wasn't big enough so we actually used two) Heat until all of the sugar has dissolved and then bring to the boil, then simmer on a lower heat. Don't forget to stir it regularly.
It usually takes around an hour for it to get thick, once it has take the jars out and carefully fill each jar.

    Tomato & Apple Chutney Recipe
Here is the finished chutney. You can either buy or make labels to put on the jars, I bought some personalised ones from ebay for about £2 but they hadn't arrived when we took the photos.
